2. Ask your friends or recent brides for a list of DJs they have come across.
3. Most of the professional wedding vendors have their own website nowadays. Check out the web site. Do you feel they are organized and sound professional?
4. Shortlist three or four DJs. Try calling them over phone and talk with them for some time indicating that you are looking for a DJ for your wedding reception.
5. It is good to give a brief outline of the type of music you expect and also the wedding theme so that the DJ can follow the thread of your thoughts.
6. Request recent references. Make it a point to check at least two of the references.

7. Insist on a written contract and confirm that the date, time and the special requests are covered in the agreement and it is duly signed.
8. You must know how many songs the DJ will bring to the wedding? Will they bring all your "must do songs", such as first dance, father/daughter, and groom/ mother. Will they take requests?
9. Does the DJ have back up equipment should something break down? Can he bring extra speakers and sub-woofer?
10. Are you comfortable with the person you have interviewed? Is he or she willing to listen to your needs?

11. If you are satisfied and feel that you have made the right choice, book the DJ and get his cell (mobile) number. Also ask for an alternate person whom you should contact in case of any emergency. Follow up with the DJ a month before your wedding day. Relax and have a musical evening.
