A slight additional charge will have your return address on the outer envelope and be sure to opt for that. Undeliverable invitations will be returned to you by having your outer envelopes printed with a return address and this will also ensure that those guests who want to send cards and gifts directly to your home will have the correct address.
Choose a lined inner envelope to enhance the beauty of your invitation. A variety of colors are available to choose from for the perfect look for a slight additional charge.
Reception cards are used to inform guests of the location of the wedding reception and or dance. Since reception cards are enclosed in with your invitation, mailing envelopes are not necessary.
Respond cards are used to help determine how many guests plan to attend your wedding. An accurate count is vital for preparing enough food, seating and other accommodations so ordering respond cards can actually save you money. Response cards should be enclosed with your invitation and returned by guests by the date indicated on the card (usually two weeks before the wedding.) Today, many cards are printed to allow guests to select an entree as well as indicate if they will be attending your celebration.
When you purchase your response cards, free response envelopes will be included. They should be printed with the address of whoever will be tallying the guest count. As a convenience for your guests, be sure to include a stamp on each envelope.
Informal notes may be personalized with your names and used as thank you notes, gift enclosures, or for other correspondence long after the wedding so order plenty. All informal notes include single mailing envelopes. Informal notes use the same folding card as a reception and respond card.
Writing notes of thanks is an etiquette must. Thank you notes are available blank for you to write your personal note of thanks, or you may choose to have them printed in order to acknowledge your wedding gifts quickly.
Mail all invitations at the same time, four to six weeks before the wedding date, using first-class postage. If you will be enclosing response cards in your invitations, remember to include stamps on these return envelopes as well.
Invitation mailings, when fully assembled, often require additional postage. To avoid postal delays and returned invitations, take a completely assembled invitation to your post office to determine proper postage.
When addressing your invitation envelopes, use your most elegant penmanship. We recommend using calligraphy pens for an extra-special look. Address your envelopes according to the following etiquette.
While writing on the Inner Envelopes, exclude the first names of the recipients.
Example: Mr. and Mrs. Dickson
Write the first names of children to be invited below the parents' names in order of age.
Example: Mr. and Mrs. Dickson
Example: Michelle, Raveena and Paul
Children over the age of 16 should receive their own invitations.
Omit children's names if you are planning an adults-only celebration.
If an invitation to a single guest extends to an unknown escort, address the inner envelope with your friend's name followed by "and Guest."
Example: Miss Carson and Guest
While writing Outer Envelopes
Use full names and formal titles. Do not abbreviate. (Except for Mr., Mrs., Ms., Jr.)
Do not use symbols. Spell out the word "and."
Do not use initials. Spell out all names.
Do not write "and family" if children are to be included in the invitation.
Use figures only when writing house numbers and zip codes.
Example: 431 North Suffolk Street
Write out the words "Street," "Boulevard," "Avenue," etc.
Do not abbreviate state names.
We believe these tips will clear your doubts while addressing your wedding invitation.
