SHOP FOR YOUR WEDDING MUSIC
Softer romantic music is sung or played during the wedding ceremony, and entertaining or dancing music is played for the reception. It is the option of the bride to decide if same musicians may play both types. If your wedding is planned at a church or any other religious place, you should check if they have any restrictions - before you start to make any selection.

The music usually starts about half an hour before the ceremony, to set the mood, with a solo sung just after the mother of the bride is seated. This lets people know the processional is about to start. The processional will begin usually with an instrumental, sometimes a solo. Once the attendants have reached the altar, music which announces the bride is played, commanding everyone's attention as you walk down the aisle. More than two songs played during the ceremony will be in excess. Finally there is the recessional, which should be more upbeat and a slightly quicker tempo.
Reception music can be almost any type of music, depending on the theme and the ambience that you want to set at that particular time. To start with, softer music can be played for the first hour during the receiving line or cocktails, and then the tempo should pick up as the evening goes on. If you do not want dancing, the musicians should consist of an individual like a pianist, or a small combo of mixed instruments, or a larger orchestra of eight to twenty people. If you want to save money, hire a disc jockey. In either case, you should be specific about the types of music that you want played. If there are any specific songs that you want played, you should establish that before the wedding date.
The music should not offend your wedding guests. Select musicians who can play a variety of songs from traditional to contemporary. Again, you should make a list of songs you would like played and give it to the band leader (or DJ). Try to have a good mix of fast and slow songs.
Make your musical arrangements as far in advance as possible. Give the musician a deposit to secure the date and get everything agreed upon in a written contract.
You may opt instead to use recorded music. Recorded music is becoming more popular today than ever before. Today, the information could be played from computers or even from music websites.
